What to Expect

puppy1.png When you arrive at Patapsco Valley Veterinary Hospital at 8525 Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City you will find a large parking lot with spaces right in front of our door.

Once inside the building you will find yourself in our clean and comfortable waiting room where you will be greeted by one of our friendly receptionists who will ask you for your name and your pet's name.

If you have already downloaded and filled out the NEW CLIENT WELCOME form (on this website), you can give it directly to the receptionist who will enter the information in our computer. If you didn't get the chance to fill out the form prior to the appointment, you will receive one to fill out in the waiting room, so that we can start your family's file and your pet's medical records.

Please arrive 15 minutes early for your appointment so that we have time to enter your information into the computer system.

If you have brought a fecal sample from you pet, please let us know so that we can take it back to the technician who will prepare it for the laboratory. Also, if possible, please bring any previous veterinary history on your pet from any prior veterinarians, including vaccinations so that we can update our records.

At this point one of our technicians or assistants will weigh your pet and then escort you into one of our exam rooms where either Doctor Huson or Doctor Russell will meet with you momentarily.

At the conclusion of your appointment you will be guided to the front desk where the receptionist will enter services rendered into the system. We do NOT have a billing system and payment is expected at the end of the appointment. We accept cash, personal checks, Discover, Debit, Master Card, and Visa.

Call 410-461-2235 to schedule an appointment and we will find a time that is convenient for you.

In some circumstances, Dr. Huson or Russell may refer you to a specialist who has advanced expertise in areas such as internal medicine or surgery.
